Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about custom steel firefighter helmets from Torched Steel: turnaround, shipping, pricing, payment, and durability.
Will the helmet rust?
While we cannot guarantee that a steel helmet won't ever rust, we take numerous precautions to prevent it including double coating each helmet with DiamondFinish to protect it. You can help prevent rust by keeping your helmet in a temperature-controlled, low moisture environment.
How much does it weigh?
Between 10-11 pounds.
How is it made?
Good question! After three years of trial and error, Dan's finally mastered the process and we are documenting it for you. Come back soon for a video.
What happens after I fill out the Order Request Form?
We will review your order preferences and reach out to you via email to confirm the details, including any customization requests, estimated times for production and delivery, payment, and shipping options.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We currently accept Venmo, Zelle, and PayPal.
How long will it take to receive my order?
It all depends on the number of orders ahead of you. Because each helmet is made by hand to order, the process is lengthy. Please allow 4-6 weeks for fabrication once we start creating your helmet. If you have a specific date you would like the helmet by, please make a note in the order form and we will let you know if we can accommodate you.
Where do you ship?
Helmets ship from Boston, MA via USPS anywhere in the United States.
I'm local, can I pick it up in Boston?
Of course!
